NetBeans at the JUG Nürnberg
Yesterday I visited JUG and ASQF Nürnberg to give a presentation about NetBeans RCP. It was the first time I was at the JUG and some of the JUG members will come to our Demo Camp next week at Sun in Heimstetten. I really hope we’ll see a lot more JUG members travelling by train back and forth between Munich and Nürnberg in the future. Thanks to ASQF, the JUG Erlangen-Nürnberg and Team!Bank for organizing this! Here are some pictures from the event:
We had a lively discussion afterwards mainly about OSGI and the NetBeans Module System, and someone pointed at the wiki page about running NetBeans on Felix. That Wiki page hadn’t been updated in a while and when I checked again now, I found that Rich Hall is obviously serious about that. That would really be great, because it would end that somehow religious discussion about NetBeans and OSGI and it would make my prophecy become true :-).
I had some problems with my new macbook during the presentation and I skipped most of the demos. Otherwise my head would have fallen off from turning between the menubar on my notebookscreen and the editor on the wall projection.
There were also some really nice developers from Poland, friends of Jacek Laskowski and Karol Harezlak. We went for a beer after the talk to a strange chinese restaurant. I’ve got the feeling that there are strong regional preferences for certain names in Poland: In Poznan everyone is named Adam and in Silezia everyone is named Lukasz. Anyone to confirm that? I’m looking forward to go to poland again next year for a statistical evaluation :-).

NetBeans on OSGi is still a fantasy of mine, but one that I would love to see happen. Keep your fingers crossed.
