Last weekend I was at in Poland to give presentations at the NetBeans Days in Gdansk and Poznan. These events were organized by the local JUGs, which is really great! So, if the world tour doesn’t come to your country or city next year (like in germany) just follow the example of these two events. I travelled there on saturday on the same plane with Adam Bien and we arrived during the talk of Karol Herzlak from Sun. Geertjan had already given his talk about NetBeans platform and there had also been another talk by a guy who had taken part in the innovators grant competition, so it was hard to guess what they had already heard about the platform. I gave a presentation about our experience porting applications to the NetBeans platform. Here are some pictures from the event in Poznan:

Afterwards we started a five hour trip following the purple line to Gdansk
and survived our own personal version of Duel with a totally crazy guy who was riding his truck like it was a motorcycle. NetBeans Day at Gdansk the next day started at 10:00. This time I could see Geertjan’s talk and fine-tune my presentation so it fit perfectly with his. Unfortunately I don’t understand Polish, so I couldn’t follow the talk by local JUG member Lukasz Lenart about creating Web services with NetBeans.
I met my fellow Dream Team member Jacek Laskowski for the first time and we were watching Adam Bien’s talk standing in the back of the auditorium. Jacek and Adam had some hilarious arguments during the talk about what Adam was allowed to show due to the overlaps in the topics of their talks, and about the use of XML and Geronimo.

After the lunch Adam and I had to leave for our plane back to munich. It was a great event and very well organized by the local JUGs. Thanks a lot to the organizers - I hope to be back in Poland for similar events soon!
